Literacy and Student Cultural Capital

Literacy should not be viewed a standalone subject, beholden to literature and composition, says the College's Rebecca Woodard, PhD, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction.  She calls for literacy to be reconceptualized as a way of learning, across subject matters, to better leverage students' cultural capital:
