teacher certification
Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) certification is an integral part of our teacher and administrator education programs.
The Council on Teacher Education (CTE) provides all ISBE certification needs for our students by streamlining the route to one of the many certificates offered through College of Education programs.

For students, the Council:
- provides general information and support to students who are interested in professional education programs
- reviews transcripts to ensure that the students meet teacher certification requirements
- conveys information about state-mandated tests
- processes applications for professional certificates
- facilitates student teaching placements
- connects campus units with professional education programs offers educational seminars
For faculty, the Council:
- communicates certification requirements and policy changes
- offers professional development sessions
- maintains and fosters relationships with area schools
- serves as a liaison with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
- reviews programs
For mentors, the Council:
- offers tuition reimbursement
- conducts professional support seminars
- supports faculty supervision of all field placements
