"No one ever said changing the world was going to be quick or easy … But at UIC's College of Education we have committed ourselves to the challenge for the long haul.”

Victoria Chou
Dean of the College of Education

Our Bachelor of Arts in Urban Education is a one-of-a-kind program focused on preparing the next generation of educators to teach and empower children in the city of Chicago and in urban neighborhoods. The program is focused on understanding how culture, language and poverty shape and influence our children’s lives, and our students develop a deep, professional understanding of how diversity in the classroom provides a significant educational advantage.

Elementary Education prepares students to teach in grades K to 9 and leads to a Type 03 Illinois state teacher certification.

We’re looking for students who will work to transform our schools and communities, and make good on the promise of public education.

If that’s you, apply now!
