One-Year and Two-Year Options
The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Education offers one-year and two-year program options for secondary science certification and master's degree in five science concentrations: biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental science, and physics. In both options, graduates earn a secondary teaching certificate and a master's degree.
Both options are aimed at college graduates* with undergraduate degrees in science-related fields, and who are interested in urban education and teaching secondary science in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
National Science Foundation Noyce Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to top candidates demonstrating financial need and a commitment to teaching for a minimum of two-years in a high-need school in CPS.
Classes for both options begin each May.
UIC applications are due February 1 of each year.
