Youth Development, M.Ed.
Degree Program

The Youth Development (M.Ed.) program is designed to develop professionals to work with youth in out-of-school settings through community-based and youth service organizations. The program will also serve as a point of entry for students wishing to pursue doctoral study in Educational Psychology. In the past 15 years the field of youth development has gained national attention based on research suggesting that providing youth with high quality out-of-school programs has a significant positive developmental impact on youth– particularly for low income, diverse, urban youth. This program will provide candidates with a strong background in youth development theory, research and program evaluation, and field based learning and will fill the need for highly skilled and trained individuals in this field.
