Endorsements

Students in the BA Urban Education, Elementary Education program can add additional qualifications to their degree beyond their Professional Educators License, giving them more options and flexibility in finding a teaching job.

Early Childhood Education (Birth to Grade 2) Endorsement

The College of Education offers courses that lead to an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Endorsement for current undergraduate and graduate students in licensure programs.

Middle Grades (Grades 5-8) Endorsement

The College of Education offers courses that lead to a Middle School Endorsement for current undergraduate and graduate students in licensure programs. Students choose content area(s) in which to get the Middle Grades endorsement: Science, Social Studies, English/Language Arts, or Mathematics. Each content area requires courses in the content area plus middle school pedagogy courses.

Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsements

The Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsements are for undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing, or who have earned, an Illinois Professional Educator License. The endorsements enable students to teach in a Bilingual and/or English as a Second Language classroom.
