Students in the MEd Science Education program are eligible to pursue the following endorsements to their teaching license:
The MEd Science Education program (Strand A) is designed to prepare students who already have an extensive science background (equivalent to an undergraduate degree in a science field) with an Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsements in one or more of the following five content areas:
- Science: Biology
- Science: Chemistry
- Science: Earth and Space Science
- Science: Environmental Science
- Science: Physics
Many of our students are eligible to receive two or more of these endorsements upon completing the program. The Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsements are for undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing, or who have earned, an Illinois Professional Educator License. The endorsements enable students to teach in a Bilingual and/or English as a Second Language setting.
The LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) special education endorsement is for teaching students with a wide range of disabilities in several instructional delivery models that include teaching in inclusionary settings through consultation and collaborative teaching.
