To qualify for the Brothers Teaching initiative, students must be accepted to or already enrolled in the BA Urban Education – Elementary Education program or other UIC undergraduate education programs that leads to licensure. Applications for fall acceptance into Brothers Teaching must be received by May 1st prior to the fall semester.

The UIC College of Education Brothers Teaching Initiative is designed to provide academic and financial support to males of color who are interested in becoming public school teachers in Illinois. UIC Brothers Teaching Scholars are required to meet all of the requirements of their UIC teacher education program, participate in Initiative meetings, attend professional development activities, and be ambassadors for the Brothers Teaching Initiative.
