Download iCal FileThe lack of socio-cultural, racial, and linguistic diversity in foundational developmental research has led to biased perspectives of what constitutes normative developmental and supportive learning experiences. This bias has engendered deficit and monolithic views about families and children from culturally, racially and linguistically minoritized communities. Using our collective work on family math across Latine/x communities, we will discuss how researchers might be able draw from cultural heritage knowledge and practices to uncover families' and children's strengths.
