Elizabeth Cambray-Engstrom, PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow and program coordinator in the Department of Special Education. She brings more than two decades of experience working alongside children, families, and educators across early intervention, early childhood, and bilingual/special education, with her work informed by both professional expertise and lived experience as a Chicago Public Schools alum, educator, and parent within the disability community. A proud Latina, native Spanish speaker, and first-generation college student, Dr. Cambray-Engstrom is deeply committed to advancing equitable access to services for children and families. Her research centers on culturally responsive, strength-based family–professional partnerships that support equitable early childhood inclusion and service access, with particular attention to the experiences of families of children with disabilities. Recognized for her instructional excellence and supported by grant funding, she is dedicated to advancing scholarship and preparing future educators who are skilled, compassionate, and equipped to serve all learners through research-informed practice.
