This virtual event will prioritize the experiences of racially, ethnically, gender and sexually minoritized academics who fight regularly to carve out spaces where they and their research are affirmed. Rejecting imposter syndrome, dealing with disregard or neglect from colleagues/peers, and prioritizing wellbeing will all be points of discussion in our conversation Dr. Nuñez.

Isabel Nuñez | Professor and Director of the School of Education | Purdue University Fort Wayne

Isabel Nuñez is a professor of educational studies and director of the School of Education at Purdue University Fort Wayne. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from UIC; an M.Phil. in Cultural Studies from Birmingham University; and a J.D. from UCLA Law. She has been a classroom teacher in Los Angeles and Birmingham, England; a newspaper journalist in Tokyo; and a visiting professor at the University of San Francisco. She has published three books with Teachers College Press and authored chapters in books from Peter Lang, Routledge, SAGE, and the Oxford University Press. Her work has appeared in Curriculum Inquiry, Educational Studies, the Journal of Curriculum Theorizing, and Teachers College Record. She is associate editor for the Oxford Encyclopedia of Curriculum Studies. She is currently vice president of the American Educational Research Association for Division B, Curriculum Studies.
