Parents' involvement with neighborhood schools is more complex than parents simply showing up for events and activities, says the College's Eleni Katsarou, PhD, clinical full professor of curriculum and instruction and director of the BA Urban Education-Elementary Education program.  Urban schools have to work at making parents feel welcome in the first place and encourage parents' involvement to continue in the home.
