Community-Engaged Research

Each year, the College of Education provides grant funding for community engagement projects created by students, alumni, faculty and staff to strengthen communities locally, nationally, and globally.

Here are a few examples of ongoing faculty-led research projects that work with students, teachers and families in Chicago communities and beyond:

  • CySec: a cybersecurity themed collectible card game for students
  • From Head Start to Kindergarten, Connecting Latino Families and Schools: studies how children and their families from low-income, Latino households facilitate preschoolers’ transition to kindergarten
  • Project SEEEC: science education for excellence and equity in Chicago
  • Project STAGE: teaching science through art and performance
