About
Margarita “Mago” Bautista is an award winning Senior Academic Advisor and a MBA student at University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Margarita was a first-generation Latina college student who understands the higher education obstacles and doubts faced by many students. She is revered as a holistic advisor who fiercely advocates for her students and makes meaningful connections with her students, colleagues and community members. Margarita’s most recent professional experience was with UIC’s Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services (LARES) program where she advised College of Education students for over 4 years, managed the LARES Dr. Miryam Assaf-Keller Scholarship, and coordinated the LARES Latina Leadership Institute.
Fun Facts: Mago studied abroad in Italy, loves plants, and is an officer in the United States Army Reserves.
