The UIC Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change promote awareness of cultural diversity’s value to UIC and the greater Chicago community through principles of inclusion, access, and equity. College of Education staff have close working relationships with these centers to make sure all our students have the best possible college experience and help them feel supported before, during, and after their time at UIC.

These UIC centers and programs provide opportunities for intercultural engagement among students, faculty, staff as well as Chicago communities. From cultural programs to student consultations, these centers on campus foster positive social change and help students make the most of their experience at UIC.

African American Cultural Center

Supports the UIC mission by engaging campus and community partners in cultural, social, and scholarly activities
African American Academic Network

Works to increase the recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of African American students
Arab American Cultural Center

Creating awareness about Arab American cultures and histories, building community and solidarity
Asian American Resource and Cultural Center

Offers social, cultural, and educational programs that promote knowledge of and foster engagement with issues
Disability Resource Center

Facilitates access for students through consultation with faculty and departments & provision of reasonable accommodatio
Gender and Sexuality Center

Provides and facilitates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and ally education, outreach, research, and support
Latin American Recruitment & Educational Services

Prepares leaders who contribute towards cultural and social advancement of the Latino community
Native American Support Program

Strives to increase the enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of Native American Students
Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center

Builds understanding of Latino cultures and issues ,intercultural skills and collaborations for positive social change
Student Veteran Affairs Office

Assists student veterans as they make the transition to the campus life
Women’s Leadership and Resource Center

Provides individual consultation on issues such as sexual harassment and sexual assault
