Endorsements
Students in the MEd Language, Literacies and Learning program may be eligible to pursue the following endorsements as part of their coursework.
Reading Teacher Endorsement Heading link
This endorsement is open to both those pursuing licensure and those already with a Professional Educator License, to be qualified as a subject-level expert in reading. The endorsement applies to the grade levels a teacher is licensed for.
Reading Specialist Endorsement Heading link
This endorsement is only open to currently licensed teachers with at least two years’ teaching experience. The endorsement qualifies teachers as deep experts across all facets of reading, including with children with special education needs.
Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsements Heading link
The Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsements are for undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing, or who have earned, an Illinois Professional Educator License. The endorsements enable students to teach in a Bilingual and/or English as a Second Language setting.
Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) Endorsement Heading link
The LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) special education endorsement is for teaching students with a wide range of disabilities in several instructional delivery models that include teaching in inclusionary settings through consultation and collaborative teaching.
Middle Grades Endorsement Heading link
Language, Literacies & Learning students with a PEL can pursue a Middle Grades (5-8) Endorsement in English/Language Arts.
