Support a Brothers Teaching Scholar

Growing up, I didn’t expect myself to go to college. I grew up from a family where high school was kind of the end goal and it was hard for me to imagine me up here where I am now.

I can’t help but be thankful for what the program has given me.”

Emonte Conway  |  Brothers Teaching Scholar

Only 4% of the approximately 135,000 teachers in Illinois are men of color, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.  Brothers Teaching aims to grow the diversity of men certified and working as teachers in Illinois schools. Brothers Teaching prepares Black and Brown men for K-12 teaching careers as they pursue undergraduate and advanced degrees in education and become teachers.

Brothers Teaching

Your gift supports the College's efforts to increase the pipeline and diversity of men leading elementary school classrooms. It will fund financial need-based scholarships and assistance to help our Brothers meet additional costs, such as textbooks, licensure testing, and professional development opportunities.

This initiative has provided me with financial assistance towards my tuition that has alleviated my overall stress, that I don’t have to work full-time. I am able to focus on my schoolwork.
